He has put his money where his mouth is, donating $500,000 to the SENS Foundation (Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence Research Foundation), a nonprofit designed to promote the development of regenerative medical technology.
By relying on emerging biotech practices, the SENS Foundation is discovering new techniques in the fight against deadly disease and aging. Jason Hope saw the possibility of the foundation’s work shortly after its founding in 2009. It was soon after the group’s mission became known that he made the initial investment. He has spoken frequently about the foundation’s goals, praising its leaders for the forward-thinking ideas and insistence on changing the public perception of aging by reaching out to politicians, donors, and other influencers.
Jason Hope has endorsed the foundation’s plans to fight age-related diseases including diabetes and Alzheimer’s while working cohesively to bring about systemic change to the entire healthcare and health insurance industries. Aubrey de Grey, leader of SENS, has lauded Jason Hope for commitment to the organization and for his willingness to jump on board during the early days with a generous financial backing. Dr. de Grey said that the $500,000 donation is being used specifically to research ways that medical experts can stop the bonding of artery-cell proteins. Dr. de Grey said that this is a key initiative because by developing this technology, arteries will not clog as often and high blood pressure will be kept at bay for longer. In addition, developing this process will also have the potential of delaying the onset of eye issues and skin deterioration.
