The Brazilian tourism and hospitality industry has been experiencing massive growth in recent years due to some smart investments. In this case, the high growth rate is attributed to the efforts and commitment of a few entrepreneurs in the country. A perfect example of such entrepreneurs is, Guilherme Paulus, an accomplished businessman with vast interests in the hotel and tourism sector.
Guilherme Paulus began his entrepreneurship journey close to five decades ago when he was barely 20 years old. He briefly worked as an intern for IBM before joining hands with his politician partner to form CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A. Currently, CVC is one of the leading tour operators in Latin America courtesy of Paulus’ visionary leadership. The venture was established in 1972 when Paulus was in his early 20s, but his political partner quit four years later leaving the young entrepreneur on his own.
Guilherme Paulus has been CVC’s Chairman since the company was established in 1972, and has seen the company grow from a struggling tour agency to a market leader. Apart from CVC, Paulus established another company known as GJP Hotels and Resorts to completely dominate the tourism industry in Brazil. The new venture controls over 15 resorts and hotels spread across the country. Being a strategic businessman, Paulus founded GJP Hotels and Resorts in anticipation of the 2014 World Cup that was hosted in Brazil. He took advantage of the huge influx of visitors to make a fortune from is ventures in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Having been in the business for over 50 years, Guilherme Paulus has invaluable experience when it comes to managing tourism ventures. In fact, the country’s booming tourism sector has made Paulus to join the list of Forbes billionaires. His style of action has made CVC to become the leading tourism network in Latin America. In addition, the company has a wide portfolio of products as a result of his ability to innovate. In other words, the company does not rely on traditional travel packages as its only sources of revenue. CVC was listed on the stock exchange in 2013 as a result of its impressive numbers. Therefore, very few people in Brazil can match Paulus’ leadership skills and business acumen.
