Over the span of 15 years, we’ve seen 7 jaw-dropping films in the X-Men franchise, and it’s not showing any signs of stopping. This unstoppable franchise is the 13th highest-grossing film franchise ever and has grossed at least $3 billion on a global scale. Comic-book fans and superhero enthusiasts have been waiting since 2014 for the soonest installment to hit theaters next called X-Men: Apocalypse. So is there any definitive information out there yet for the 2016 box office release?
In fact, Twentieth Century Fox is determined to release some teasers for the upcoming movie this year at San Diego Comic-Con. Bryan Singer will be directing the film and has teased at the teasers himself. So what’s the synopsis of this continuation?
Folks like Brad Reifler know that with the timeline restored from Days of Future Past, Apocalypse will be a continuation of Xavier’s prequel. Set in the 1980’s, the X-Men will battle the ancient mutant known as Apocalypse and his four horsemen. If you happened to read the comics or the cartoon series from the 1990’s, then you’re well aware how formidable Apocalypse is. We’ll also get to see young versions of Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler. Will this be a new era of X-Men movies?
It sure looks like it. With a Deadpool, Gambit, X-Force, New Mutants, and Final Wolverine film set in motion, it looks like we will continue to see some awesome action-packed mutant films for at least the next decade or so.
